I had fun sketching up these patterned tress for a holiday themed invitation design challenge, and I thought I’d share. If anyone would like to use the vector file for personal use – I’d be happy to share it. Just send me an email referencing the file.

I was recently commissioned to create an invite for a special event at the “Fox Theatre”, a National historic landmark located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. I’ve never been to the beautiful venue but after reading it’s history, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to create a “vintage movie poster-style” design. I was thinking Circa 1930′s-40′s…Casablanca, King Kong…vintage circus-like buttered popcorn bags.
I was fortunate to find an incredible woodcut gramophone vector for free through Vintage Vectors. It provided the perfect avenue to set the stage for an “old style” message. I also used a couple different structural aspects of the building itself for inspiration, like the outline of the “FOX” signage and the alternating colored marble from the outside of the building.
To learn more about the history of this building that was built in the late 1920′s visit www.foxtheatre.com.

Have you heard of http://www.matesteinforth.com/? His work inspires me immensely. If you have yet to see the TRowe Price video you’re missing out on some incredible artwork: watch it here.
I am in love…
